Who are “They”? How Do “They” Control Our Lives? Why do we do what “They”
want? Why do we care what “They” think?
Who are “They”?
“They” can be anyone who tries to steer you towards something that “They”
think you should: do, think, buy, become, etc. “They” can be Parents,
Teachers, Society, Government, or People with money and agendas,
Businesses, etc.
How Do “They” Control Our Lives?
Sometime it comes from love and “They” just want to see you be the best
YOU possible (often Parents, Teachers, etc.).
Sometime it comes from money or power and “They” want to influence the way
you think or spend your money (People with money and agendas, Large
Businesses, etc.). Did you know that the top 1% of households hold 42.7%
of the financial wealth in the US? 42.7% can influence a lot of
politicians or buy a lot of advertising can’t it.
Sometimes it is through “sacred cows” (which means any stubborn loyalty to
a long-standing institution which impedes natural progress) such as the
traditional medical system. The Government is full of this with lobbyists
making sure that nothing changes, as illustrated by the corruption with
the oil industry, drug industry, health insurance industry, FDA and food
additives. It takes a long time and many people being hurt for these
“sacred cows” to be cracked such as smoking and slavery.
Why do we do what “They” want?
Sometimes we believe things that are said at face value. Nothing anyone
says is 100% true for everyone, all the time, and for all time. Take what
is said and process it, if it is of no value discard it, if it is helpful
embrace it, if it falls in between take what you want then leave the rest.
Sometimes we don’t want to stand out, so we do what everyone else is doing
to fit in.
Sometimes we feel that if we don’t do what others want, “They” won’t
love/like us anymore. For starters, anyone that only loves/likes someone
because “They” can control them is not worth having in your life. Second,
there are tons of people that have the same thought and actions as the
true you. By letting your true self appear you will meet many new people
that support you and your decisions.
Sometimes our faith in being our true self, is killed by words that plant
the seed that: we aren’t good enough, we can’t accomplish our dreams, or
you might fail and that would be bad. The reality is everyone fails, but
we need to have confidence to try again or to try something different.
Why do we care what “They” think?
As a society we want to fit in. By thinking on our own we are outside the
box, and that is different and uncomfortable at first for many people. If
you look at the greatest people in our world’s history it is full of
people who were outside the box, way outside the box.
Albert Einstein- Would have been diagnosed with ADHD and been on Ritalin
if he lived today. He never “fit in” to the traditional school system and
dropped out of school as a result. He is regarded today as the top genius
of all time.
Thomas Edison- Is know for his great inventions, but he failed far more
often that he succeeded. If he gave up when he had criticism or failed,
our world would be a much darker place. In fact Edison applied for over
1,600 patents during his career.
Abraham Lincoln- Fought to abolish slavery. He did what was right instead
of doing what was accepted, easier, what had always been done.
Socrates- Is known as one of the greatest thinkers and teachers of all
time. Two of his students Plato and Aristotle are also recognized as some
of the greatest thinkers. Socrates often said his wisdom was limited to an
awareness of his own ignorance. (You don’t know, what you don’t know,
until you learn what you didn’t know.)
Aristotle and other early thinkers discovered the world is round not flat
like it was thought up until that point. They challenged what everyone
else accepted as fact, if you sailed too far you would fall of the edge of
the earth.
Learn, Research, Become Educated, Then Make the Right Decision for You.
Be You! Have faith in You! You are great!
You are the only one who knows what is right for You!
You’re good enough, you’re smart enough and doggone it people like you
(the real you, not the you, you feel you need to be.)
